So in the Seventh Pay Commission, the fitment factor was 2.57, raising the minimum salary to ₹18,000. Whereas, under the 8th Pay Commission, it is likely to be raised to 2.86, thus bringing up the minimum salary to ₹51,480.
Change In Salary Structure With Dearness Allowance (DA)
Recently, DA was increased by 2%, bringing it to 55%. Reports state that DA may be merged with the basic pay upcoming under the 8th Pay Commission to further increase salaries. Increase in salary very much, according to the fitment factor, when DA is added onto the basis. Basically, if an employee earns ₹18,000 basic pay, adding 55% DA would make ₹27,900, after which the application of a fitment factor of 2.86 can easily take it to ₹79,794.
